Stress can be described as a person's inability to cope with a situation or event. The symptoms can range from mood swings, flu, colds even hair loss but in the long term it can lead to obesity, diabetes and heart disease. Here is some advice on dealing with stress.
Exercise: Exercise is the most simple, readily available and easiest way to beat stress. In addition to dealing with stress, exercise is a way to lose weight and improve mental and physical health.
Sleep: While asleep, your body gets into cell repair and rejuvenation, so a good night's sleep is essential to wake up ready to face the day ahead. If you can't sleep or feel sleepy all the time, chances are that you are suffering from stress overload. Waking up in the middle of the night and fitful dreams are other common signs. Try to get at least 8 hours sleep a night. Establish a regular sleep pattern: go to bed and get up at the same time every day.
Food and water: Consume nutritious food in little amounts (and often) to keep blood sugar levels constant. Eat breakfast, lunch and dinner each day, with a wholesome mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack. Water will help you feel better, help your body cope better, keep you focused, control headaches, the list goes on. Aim for at least 2 liters of water a day. Avoid stimulants like tea, coffee, energy drinks and coke.
Another way to cope is to take an hour every day and engage in some activity that takes your mind off the cause of the stress. Work at a favorite hobby or find a good listener to talk about things that are causing you stress.
Quiet time of relaxation, when you do nothing except sit quietly, think pleasant thoughts and breathe deeply is a good way to deal with stress. Look for the good things in every situation. A positive mental attitude is essential for dealing with stressful situations.
These are healthy ways to beat stress in order to keep you healthy and have a positive outlook in life.
